My name is Heather and this blog is dedicated to my assignment for ACCT11059. I am 22 and a full time student. The company that I was given for this assignment was the Australian Securities Exchange, more commonly known as ASX. I hope that you enjoy reading my blog and that hopefully, we can figure out what the ASX is all about.

Balance Sheet Key Concepts
Overall again it suggests that there has been significant profit/success made by the ASX over this financial year, with nearly all sections of the balance sheet suggesting an increase in profits from 2012. It makes me wonder though how difficult it would be for the ASX to run at at loss - the ASX is one of the largest stock/security exchanges in the Oceanic region. As long as there are people willing to invest; there isn't very many options for them if they live here. Or can you choose to list your company on another exchange? I am not sure about this. Does anyone know?
Questions
1. Does my Balance sheet look similar to other peoples? I was wondering about this and if this is something that is consistent across businesses/companies! I would love to have a look at some others. Leave your comment below and I will be sure to check out yours.
2. The Total Non-Current Liabilities were down by 256.3m and I am not sure why. Does anyone have any ideas? Did anyone else's company run at a loss last year? I think that would be interesting. Annual Reports usually look to show the good side of the company.
